Shorties founder Derek brings almost a decade of experience in the hair industry. Originally from Dublin, he went on to manage a barbershop in East London before working at one of London’s most high-end barbershops.

Deciding to go it alone, Derek launched Shorties as a private one-chair studio. Fast forward, and it’s now an award-winning, three-chair barbershop known for its bold 80s aesthetic — neon lights, retro energy and unapologetically maximal design.

With inclusivity at the heart of the brand, Derek has created a space where everyone feels welcome and leaves feeling sharp. Shorties is more than just a barbershop — it’s an experience (and, admittedly, an excuse to fill the space with the occasional bit of nerd memorabilia).

With over a decade of experience across some of London’s leading salons and barbershops, Mya blends creativity with precision to craft styles that genuinely suit your lifestyle.

She specialises in scissor work across all genders and hair types — from textured mullets and razored layers to sleek bobs and flawless skin fades. Her signature is hair that looks considered but effortless: wearable, easy to manage, and tailored specifically to you.

Beyond the cut, Mya brings in-depth knowledge of hair health and styling routines, ensuring your hair not only looks good in the chair but continues to perform day to day.

Mya works Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. She is also a fully qualified integrative therapist accredited by BACP, as well as a certified hypnotherapist — bringing a calm, thoughtful dimension to her approach behind the chair.

Craig

Originally from Glasgow, Craig brings over a decade of experience from some of Edinburgh’s top barbershops. Now based in London, he’s sharpened his craft across a wide range of styles and brings a confident, considered approach to every cut.

Craig has real range — whether you’re after soft, natural scissor work or something sharper and more defined, he’ll dial it in. Got a wild idea? He’s the one to make it happen.

Outside the shop, Craig’s either cycling across the city, working his way through London’s food scene, or sharing the occasional unsolicited plane fact (you’ve been warned). Got a restaurant recommendation? He’s all ears.
